Everyone at Fort Douglas and in Salt Lake is anxiously v. va i ting definite action by the general titaff. French to Be Taught. professor Frank R. Arnold of the Utah Agricultural college has offered his services ser-vices to Colonel Alfred Hashrouek, the post" commander, to give free instruction in French to the soldiers of the post. The offer will be accepted. Professor Arnold proposes to give the soldiers two lessons week one on Friday nights and another an-other on Saturdav mornlnss. Arrangements Arrange-ments will be made to have the school conducted in f.io post chapel, probably. The offer of Professor Arnold Is In addition addi-tion to that of the L'mversity of Utah, which has also been accepted. Colonel Richard Y. Toung. command-in command-in the 145th regiment, (Utah) field artillery, ar-tillery, has written a letter to the post commander at Fort Douglas expressing the thanks of the officers and Indies of the artillery frr a general invitation to attend the biweekly post "hops." 1 lieutenant Moses Gray, who has been attached to the Forty-third for duty, received re-ceived notice yesterday that ho has been permanently assigned to this regiment.
