Havlnff recently " passed his eighteenth birthday, Vernon Ver-non Kkiretle, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. ICl'lredKe, Jr., has enlisted in the Utah fidlrl artillery and hopes to beasatgned to B battery with the other Ogden boys. The young man attempted to join the Op-den Op-den unit of the national guard at the outbreak of the Mexican trouble by misrepresenting mis-representing his age, but he wag rejected when his real age was learned. Since becoming IS years of age ho has renewed his efforts to Join the Utah contingent con-tingent and has been successful. Eklreci;re left today for Fort Douglas with the expectation ex-pectation of entering into active service. He is well known in both Salt Lake and Ogden, having attended the public schools in both cities. His father is publisher pub-lisher of the Ogden Examiner. |
