Show BRITISH REPORT MUCH ACTIVITY ON ALL FRONTS LONDON, Sept. 11. The official report from British headquarters in France tonight to-night reads; In addition to those reported this morning, a few prisoners were taken during the night in the course of patrol encounters in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of Languicourt. Iast night there was local fighting in which we captured several prisoners southeast of St. Julien. Southeast of St. Jenshoek the enemy ene-my raided one of our advanced posts, from which a few of our men are missing. The post has since been re-established. The artillery has been active on both sides during the day east of Tpres. On Sunday a thick mist greatly hampered aerial operations. Artillery Artil-lery co-operation was carried out when possible and a few bombs were dropped by day and night on hostile airdromes. Three enemy machines were brought down and four were driven down out of control. Five of our machines are missing. It la impossible to include in the daily communiques the almost numberless num-berless incidents that are occurring daily and nightly along the front, often entailing hard fighting by small parties and demanding high qualities of courage and endurance on the part of troops concerned. A short summary sum-mary is given showing the general itHture of the work constantly being ' tfonc. upon what are generally regarded as quiet parts of the line. Small parties par-ties go out night and day to investigate investi-gate the enemy's wire, to ascertain the condition of his trenches, the strength of his garrison or the position posi-tion of the German machine gun emplacements em-placements and strong points. Much valuable Information is obtained and encounters with the enemy's patrols and working parties are frequent. |
