Show WILL AID STUDENTS THROUGH COURSES Efforts to Be Made to Provide Work for Those Desiring to Pay Expenses Ex-penses at University. Efforts are being made already to furnish work for students who desire to pay their own expenses through the University of Utah during the coining year. Yesterday a committee of two, including Miss Lucy Van Cott, dean of women, and 0. D. Steiner, professor of agriculture of the state institution, was appointed by President James A1. Widtsoe to take over r.ne work of supplying sup-plying employment for needy students. Professor Steiner declared yesterday that approximately one-third of the students who will onroll at the university univer-sity for the 1917-1018 season will work their own way through school. Mr. Steiner said this was a decided increase over last year and explained that the increase was due to the idea in the minds of many students that, in view of so many young men quitting their employments to enter the government service, many openings will be found. The committee will endeavor to make arrangements with big business houses in the city to take care of as many students as possible. Mr. Steiner Stein-er expressed the opinion that it was highly commendable on the part, of students who are ambitious to be willing will-ing to pay their own expenses at college col-lege and that they should receive the assistance of educationally interested persons. |
