Show POLICE HEAR OF PETTY BURGLARIES Sneak Thieves Busy In Various Parts of Town; Considerable Booty Is Secured. A number of petty burglaries and sneak thefts were reported to the police yesterday. In two cases, where small sums were obtained from women's purses, a tall man and a handsome tall womau were reported as operating in office buildings. In these cases the two thieves, who were said to be well dressed, realized the pitiful sum of $3 altogether. The persons robbed were Miss Florence Hartley, and Mrs. A. B. Knowlton of the Judge building. Other robberies, thought to be the work of boys or amateur crooks, were reported. H. Benson, 10 Third avenue, Murray, missed a fine watch when he returned home from work last night. H. Otto Hall of the Baymond hotel reported re-ported the loss of a $50 ring and cash from his room; Charles F. Watkins, 1 155 East Second South street, missed a diamond pin worth $1)5 when he awoke yesterday morning; W. K. Philips, Herbert Her-bert hotel, failed to awake on time yesterday yes-terday morning and found that "his alarm clock and a razor had been stolen during the night; Held 's novelty store, 71 East Thirrf South street, yield'-ed yield'-ed $5 in nickels and dimes to someone who smashed a' glass and entered it during dur-ing the previous night, and $32 was realized by someone who smashed a window and rifled an open safe at the store of John' Holley & Co., 51 Bichards street. r |
