Show PLAN RACING MEETS -j TO AID WAR HORSES SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11. Two thoroughbred thor-oughbred horse racing meets are being Planned by the American Red Star Animal Ani-mal Relief society here to secure funds for the care and treatment of horses disabled dis-abled on the fighting fronts. The first meet will be held in Kan Francisco and he second in Del Monte, Cal. The dates have not been set. The society, which is'. the branch of a worldwide organization started in Switzerland Swit-zerland two years ago. has been asked to do its part in raising $250,000 for this -horse rescue work. It plans to secure the horses entered for the meet at Reno, and has been promised the co-operation of James W. Coffroth, the Tiaiuan racing promoter, and George Wingfi the millionaire Nevada horseman, in Its efforts to have these horses participate in the Red Star affairs while, thev are en route from Reno to the meet ln; Tia-Juana. The state meets will not be anv attempt at-tempt at reviving horse racing here, and will be 111 strict accord with the prevailing prevail-ing anti-gambling rules Two stakes of $500 each have ben offered. |
