Show CHEMICAL INDUSTRY MOBILIZED FOR WAR BOSTON. Sept. 11. William H. Hieh-ols, Hieh-ols, chairman of the committee on chemicals chemi-cals of the council of national defense, speaking today at the opening of the American Chemical society convention, declared the chemical industry of the United States was mobilized to meet any problems regarding war needs and the supply of the nation. He said chemical engineers and Industrial chemists had developed de-veloped new products and substitutes for the many acids and dyestuffs formerly received in bulk from Germany. The greatest known deposit of potash In the world, he said, is located in Searles lake, southern California, and contains 23,000 arres of the richest known product, the immediate use of which, he added, depends upon an appeal which has been made by the chemical committee. |
