Show REORGANIZATION OF COURSES SUGGESTED Readjustments and Bevisions Planned in Handling the Group of So-called So-called Social Studies. Dean Milton Bennion of the school of education of the University of Utah held an informal conference with teachers teach-ers of the Granite high school yesterday ; concerning the reorganization of certain high school courses, in order to make the j course of study conform to the require- 1 raents recently proposed by the national ! committee. Among- the courses which may Jbe re- adjusted and revised are those in his- tory, civics, economics, sociology and ethics. These constitute what are known as social studies. It is planned to offer community civics in the first f year of the junior high school, and the problems of democracy, which include all social problems, in the senior yeor of the senior high school course. It is hoped in this wav to better meet the needs of modern life. The subject will be further discussed at the meeting of the Utah Educational association which will be held in Salt Lake this month. Adam Bennion of tho Granite high school will read a paper on the subject. |
