With lively contests on in four of the five municipal wards of Ogden city and a contest in one of the precincts of the country, more than ordinary interest in school elections will doubtless be exhibited by the citizens of . this county in the balloting to take place tomorrow. In both the city and country districts the polls will be open from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m., the voting to be done with ballots provided by the candidates themselves. them-selves. In this city there are at least two candidates can-didates In each of the five wards, and in the case of the First ward there are four candidates. From campaign indications, indica-tions, j. w. Levedahl, present board member from the Third ward, is the only candidate in t tie city who is reasonably certain of election. He lias no opposition except for the Socialist candidate. Due to the friction which existed for more than a year as the result of in-harmony in-harmony between the board and former Superintendent John M. Mills, there has been a desire on the part of board members mem-bers seeking re-election to make "Mill-ism" "Mill-ism" the paramount Issue of the campaign. cam-paign. Charges by H. H. Henderson and other board members that their opponents op-ponents seek the return of the former superintendent have been denied reppeat-edly reppeat-edly by these opponents. Some of the non-board member candidates have declared de-clared that, while they admire Superintendent Superin-tendent Mills and favor his progressive methods, they would not, if elected, support sup-port any movement to bring him back Into the school system. The rolling places in the five municipal wards ot the citv for tomorrow's election are as follows: First ward, Pingree school; Second ward, Grant school; Third ward. Mound Fort school; Fourth ward, Madison Madi-son school, and Fifth ward, Lewis junior high school. Fifth ward Wade M. Johnson, incumbent; incum-bent; John Culley and C. E. Bennett, Socialist. Residents of Plain City, which is included in-cluded in the Fourth school precinct of Weber county, denied today that there would be any opposition in their district to John Wheeler, named as the candidate for election to succeed Director Joshua Homer in their precinct. This is taken to mean that the election of Mr. Wheeler will be almost unanimous. Such a condition does not prevail in the Second precinct of the county. A. C. Christensen was named as a candidate to succeed himself on the board, hut the residents of the Taylor district later selected se-lected James J. Taylor as candidate for the board. Mr. Christensen is a resident of the Hooper district. There are five voting districts in each precinct In which elections will be held tomorrow and voting booths will be located, locat-ed, in most instances, at the school houses in each of the ten districts. |
