Show SCHOOL ELECT1 IS ! TO BE HELD TDDAY i Generally Believed That Non-partisan Plan Will Be Carried Out. In order that a full report of the Salt Lake City school election may appear in The Tribune tomorrow, tomor-row, judges of election will please telephone Main 590 the result of the vote cast in their respective districts at the earliest possible moment mo-ment tonight. Despite the fact that threatening clouds have beeu reported on the horizon hori-zon in some of the municipal wards, it is expected that the live new members mem-bers of the Walt Lake City board of education will be selected today in strict accordance with the non-partisan plan of t li e school election. Some little dissatisfaction has . been expressed in most of the wards over the result of the primaries last week, but no serious opposition is anticipated at the polls. If any opposition doe6 develop the forecasters predict that it will confino its work chiefly to the First ward. Before the primaries there was a large field of possible candidates in the i irst ward and t rumors have been current that some one or more of these might attempt to nullify the action ac-tion of the convention by making a stand at the polls. Like reports, but less threatening in nature, have been current in other wards, particularly the Fifth, but when investigated appeared to be of comparatively compar-atively little consequence. The rumor with reference to the Fifth ward was practically stilled with the announcement announce-ment of Miss Kate Williams that sha would not oppose the election of Joy H. Johnson, the choice of the primary convention. The situation in the First ward, while a little unstable, is not believed be-lieved to be of a sufficiently serious nature na-ture to prevent the election of H A . Smith. The polls will he open from 7 o'clock this morning until 7 o'clock this evening even-ing in the various districts as designated desig-nated by the board of education several sev-eral days ago. The nominees of the primary conventions are: H. A. Smith, First ward; A. G. Giauque, Second ward; O. V. Movie, Third ward; Will G. Farrell, Fourth ward; Joy H. Johnson, John-son, Fifth, ward. |
