Show MILITANTS PRESENT. The militant suffragists- were agaiD in evidence when the president read his address to congress, but no one would be willing to make oath that they advanced ad-vanced "the cause of equal rights or hastened the day when the Susan B. Anthony amendment will be placed before be-fore the people of the country. On the other hand, it is not probable the dropping drop-ping of the banner will have an adverse effect, for the senators and representatives, representa-tives, as well as President Wilson, have become accustomed to the outbursts of the militants, and pay little attention to them. There might be some question as to tho propriety of attempting to interrupt the president of the United States while performing one of the most important duties of his high office, but the militants probably lost sight of that question when they became fired with the zeal of the crusaders, and went forth upon their mission to "nag" the executive into submission. Evidently the "war" did not cease when the sun went down on election day. |
