Show ARCHBGLD FUNERAL ; mill By International News Sendee. NEW YORK. Dec. 5. John D. Archbold. the chief controlling power of the Standard Stand-ard Oil company and one of tlie greatest of American financiers, died at 4 o'clock this morning In his home at Tarrytown. Hope for his recovery had been abandoned aban-doned on Monday nicht. His illness, of which the country has been kept informed, was the aftermath of an operation for appendicitis performed on November '2'-). ; Mr. Archbold, who was fiS years of ase, bad shown remarkable vitality in bis struggle for life. With him at the end were Mrs. Archbold, Arch-bold, their son, John F. Archbold, their daughter, Mrs. Michael Van Buren. a nd her husband, and Dr. Gordon, who had lived in the house for several days. The funeral services will take place at the house at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, : a fter which the body will be taken to ! Sleepy Hollow cemetery- and laid in the Archbold familv vault the vault in which the bedy of Mrs. John D. Rockefeller rested temporarily before being transport-ed transport-ed to Cleveland, Ohio.
