Show TIME TO SAVE. The federal reserve board's tabulation tabu-lation of reports from agents all over the country shows prosperity from one end of the land to the other. The fly in the ointment is the high cost of living, which is general. Shortage of freight cars is acute in some localities, locali-ties, but on the whole the present situ-' situ-' ation is very encouraging to all, un-; un-; less we except the consumer whose salary has not kept pace with advancing ad-vancing prices. The Cleveland iron and steel mills are sold up for the entire en-tire year 1917 and we dare say the same is true of the mills in all other parts of the country. There may be some check to business before spring, but -there are no indications of a falling fall-ing off just now. Nevertheless it would be a first-class idea to begin the practice of economy, not only for the purpose of bringing prices down within with-in reach, but also for the purpose of having a little so met hing saved up iu case things go wronsr- If we should prepare for war in time of peace, we should also prepare for dull times in , our days of prosperity. |
