Show TO AID LOAN FUND BY LEAP YEAR HOP University of Utah. Women Planning to Hold Annual Benefit Dance December 19. Miss Lucy Van Cott. dean of women at the University of Utah, announced , vesterdav that 'the annual leap year dance given by the women of the university uni-versity will take place on Tuesday, December 19, providing the plan to dismiss dis-miss school for the holidays on that date is favorably acted upon. Since this is leap year, the dance will be even more important than Usual. For several years the leap year dance has been carried out at the university, the proceeds going to the women's loan fund. But often the co-eds have not taken full advantage of the privileges which the occasion offers. This time, however, the year itself acts as an additional ad-ditional encouragement to the girls. The gymnasium building in which the dance will be held will be decorated in Christmas colors. The women's loan fund at the present time contains $2395.20. Miss Van Cott has been working for several years to bring the amount up to $501)0. During the present year a great many loans have been made on account of the high cost of living. So far no attempt has been made to replenish the fund. The monev is loaned without interest to university girls who would otherwise be forced to leave school. The loans are male with the understanding that thev will be paid back within one year after jjraduation. Miss Van Cott says that not one cent has ever been lost. |
