Show West Bountiful By ALICE MITCHELL 295-1156 This has been the week of looking for our "roots" ...As with many citizens of the U.S. and the world, people in the West Bountiful area are becoming most interested in their roots. They are developing develop-ing a desire to know their pedigrees. Peoples' ancestry is becoming almost as important im-portant as that of horses, cattle, cat-tle, dogs, and other animals. They are attending classes and seminars on tracing their parentage back through the years. Some attended the Stake Genealogical Seminar Meetings Meet-ings last Friday and Saturday, Satur-day, at the stake house. Phyllis Miller, Paul Buys, President Clarence Samuel-son, Samuel-son, Danny and Vicky Broderick were some of those who were eager to learn where they came from. Some of the Seventies of the West Bountiful Second Ward got together Friday night to get acquainted and to learn things to make life better. The Roy Nicholsons, the Gary Petersons, the Grant Der-bidges, Der-bidges, the Wayne Morrises, went out to dinner. Then Wayne took them on a special tour of the church office of-fice building in Salt Lake City. Special emphasis was placed on touring the Genealogical Society rooms. Wayne said that he didn't want any of them not able to learn where to find their roots. As these people were on their tour, they saw a large group of seminary teachers, who were enjoying a reception recep-tion in the dining room area. Among those attending this party were: Dan and Alyson Taylor, Bishop Beagley, and the teachers from Bountiful Jr. and Viewmont seminaries. At the same time the Seventies were partying, others of the stake were meeting at the newly remodeled Bountiful Tabernacle Taber-nacle in Bountiful. The first meeting in the "new" building build-ing was devoted to a reunion of the people who had served under President Amby Biggs in the old Bountiful Stake. Earl and Harriet Stephens were in charge of the flowers for the occasion, which featured fea-tured an address by Elder Mark E. Petersen. Ardell Byingtons are looking back to the beginnings begin-nings of their good marriage. They are planning to celebrate their big day, which was on Halloween. Todd Mitchell is excited to report that he has his mission call to the Arkansas Mission. The Bruce Moores have been happy to have their grandmother Eames visiting with them, while their mother Liz and the new baby have been getting their health back. Bruce has been a lot of help too. We are sorry to learn that the Jim Andersons have their house in Fackrell Subdivision up for sale. They are looking at building a new home in South Jordan. We wish them well wherever they live. The Cub Scouts of the Second Ward and their parents, enjoyed the afternoon last Saturday as they learned more about the beginnings of their state. They visited Brigham Young's Farm Home adjacent to the "This Is The Place" Monument. Camille Mitchell, in pioneer dress, showed Peggy and Lavor Tullis and boys, cub leader and wife, the Wayne Parkinsons, Rosemary Musig and boys, Rolayne Nicholson and boys, the Wanless South-wicks South-wicks and family, and others through the home. The Alt Cornias were happy to have Mary's daughter and family, Fred and Aura Mertlich, with them last week. They accompanied their son, Scott, who had come to Utah to be married in the Salt Lake Temple. The wedding breakfast was eaten at Arrowpress Square. The family enjoyed dinner at the Cornias. Monday this week Alt was given the opportunity to do something he likes to do but doesn't get to do often, he went fishing out at Strawberry Straw-berry with his son Chuck. The Gary Peterson family had a ball as they journeyed to Fairview for last weekend. The Petersons have a dream of building a cabin down in Sanpete some time. Lina Rosemann and all of her family and friends are hoping that she will have a wonderful time on her birthday birth-day tomorrow (Saturday). She will be 86 years young. She is really an asset to the community. We are glad to hear that Fred Zesiger is feeling much better. He had a lot of tests, but no conclusions were reached. Ruby Olson had a ball with her daughter Evelyn and husband Garth Green last week. They attended the Tabernacle Choir Broadcast and were astonished to find that the building was filled just like at conference time. Ruby was much impressed with the Special Interest Fireside last Sunday at the Regional Center. It was West Bountiful's turn to have charge of the meeting which featured a talk on Jerusalem and the history of the Jews. Ruby was sorry to find out that Mary Harper, who was to have had charge, had been hospitalized, so was unable to attend. Best wishes to her. Best wishes, too, to young Dee Lynn Zesiger (son of the Don Zesigers) and to Kyle Hall (son of the Max Halls) who had their days last week. Dee Lynn had a party for his 5th birthday and Kyle his sixth birthday. Last Saturday the Fourth Ward MIA traveled to Park City, where they rode the Alpine Al-pine ride, with lots of fun and some thrills and chills. Afterwards After-wards they returned home to the home of Bruce Slater to eat chili and drink hot chocolate. The Raymond Hayes were happy to go to the airport to meet Ray's parents, Daisy and Ray Hayes as they returned re-turned from a trip all over Europe. They had a movie camera with them, so that they might preserve the moment for them all. Raymond's parents were accompanied by his brother Delmont Hayes.
