Show dHoDDt Aflds swaps Eighteen members of the 508th TAC Clinic (Reserve) traveled to Blanding, Utah during the week of Oct. 12-15 to provide medical screening services to elementary school age Navajo Indian children residing on the Navajo Reservation, as well as other children from the Blanding community. THE purpose of the Community Com-munity Service Project was to provide physicals for school children who otherwise might reach an advanced adolescent age without ever having seen a nurse or doctor. . This year marks the third annual trip to the area by Reserve medical personnel, with over a thousand children examined to date. ' THE WEEK'S schedule called for more than 500 examinations, including eye and hearing checks, dental exam, blood tests, blood pressure and physical examinations by a doctor. In the last two projects, a significant number of medical problems were identified iden-tified that otherwise might not have been detected. These were later followed up by Utah Navajo Development Council Medical Personnel. ASSISTING the 508th TAC Clinic this year are members of the 700 TAS, Dobbins AFB, Ga., who are providing airlift support for the 400 mile trip. Members of the clinic returned re-turned Oct. 15 after completing complet-ing the project. |
