Hatch, Woods Cross, was deemed "Utah's First Lady of Trucking" by the motor carrier industry of Utah. Making the presentation is L. Lee Johnson. Transport Association, presented Mrs. Hatch with the distinguished President's Award, a large silver bowl, citing Mrs. Hatch for being a pioneer leader in Utah trucking and for her outstanding out-standing contributions to the trucking industry. MRS. HATCH is president of W.S. Hatch Co., Woods Cross. Hatchco is a regulated tank truck carrier which mainly transport bulk commodities. com-modities. Mr. Johnson related how Mrs. Hatch, with her late husband, started the W.S. Hatch Co. in 1936 with one asphalt spreader tanker, which Mr. Hatch drove. The company was incorporated in 1946, with Mr. Hatch becoming becom-ing its first president and Mrs. Hatch becoming vice president. Mrs. Hatch became president of Hatchco, as it is known today, in 1970 after the death of her husband. hus-band. WITH HER motivation and dedication, she helped the company grow from one employee to over 300 employees today (Hatchco is one of the largest employers in Davis County), from one truck to 125 pieces of equipment equip-ment today, from an office in a furnace room of their home in Woods Cross to ten terminals ter-minals throughout the west and the home office remaining remain-ing in Woods Cross. The company's operating authority has been increased extensively to meet the needs of bulk acid, chemical and petroleum products in Utah and the 17 Western States. Mrs. Hatch actively engages in the business. She is on the job every day and keeps a personal relationship with her employees. IN addition to Mrs. Hatch's award, two safety awards were presented to the W.S. Hatch Co. during the same banquet, the Trailmobile Fleet Safety Award and the Utah Industrial Safety Award. |
