Show j Oil: SEiujiEigj Lto ff FigEuG By Dave Wigham Ben Lomond will be in town this week to battle with the youthful Woods Cross team in a battle that the Scots need to win to keep alive any hope of post season play. The Wildcats Wild-cats have nothing but a lot of pride riding on the game. THE SCOTS got off to a great start in Region Four by winning their first two ball games, but since then they have fallen on hard times dropping their next two games. They got back on the winning trail again last week as they downed Logan to move into third place in the region standings. Woods Cross has yet to win a league encounter but the Cats have been anything but a pushover for the other clubs, as they have played most of their opponents down to the wire before dropping the contest. con-test. DAVIS coach Jay Cullimore indicated that the Cats will be a powerhouse club in the league next year when they field a senior ladened club. Ben Lomond comes into town with a good passing attack at-tack and a sporadic running game. Quarterback Danny Moyes has found success in the airways in guiding his troops to this win last week and the Cats can expect to see the ball in the air again this week. THE favorite target of the thrower has been tight end Mike Kunz who has great size and speed to go with it college scouts are very high on this talented receiver. Running backs Todd Matlack and Kent Summers have been up and down all year turning in great games, like last week, one week and then being held to almost nothing the next week. Speedster Robbie Tillman has been used at almost every position available on the field but primarily as a receiver. ALTHOUGH they are without a region win this year the Wildcats have gained a lot of respect in their travels. Especially noted is their passing attack led by junior quarterback Jeff Ostler the little signal caller who does everything but drive the bus to the game. Credit must be given to the defensive unit of the Cats who have been out-manned almost every week, both in size and experience, Tom Gerrard, Doug Birrell, John Montgomery, Mont-gomery, Gregg Tuttle, Dave Powell, Stu Egan, Al Omera, Jason Whitney, Brad Monson, Wes Mochizuki and Tod Baliff have all performed admirably for the Cats on defense. WHILE most people have heard of the old saying of wait until next year, it's been the opposing coaches who have been saying that about the Woods Cross people, no Region Four coach is too thrilled about the idea of seeing see-ing the same players again next year, a year of experience behind them. The Scots have a very experienced club, probably too much for the young Cats to handle although Woods Cross will give them all the game they ever want. |
