Show SCARLET FEVER IS ON 1HEJECREASE The epidemic of scarlet fever winch gave the health department consider able trouble during the month of October, Oc-tober, is now well under control and the number of ca--ies under quarantine has been reduce,! from forty-five to fifteen. Eighteen cases of the disease hao been released from quarantine dining the past week. The sanitary Inspector stated this morning that, with only six new case develop'ng during the prist seven days and eighteen cases being released, there wag hope of completely erajb at-ing at-ing the disease from the city within the next two weeks. The epidemic reached Its maximum pIxhiI the middle mid-dle of October when forty-five cases were under quarantine at one time Throughout the month new' cases continued con-tinued to develop nearly as rapidly as old ones were released. Strenuous efforts were made to get the disease under control and In thin work the henlth department was given valuable assistance by tho school officials. Among the foreign speaking families, razes of the disease dis-ease would not be reported to the sanitary san-itary officers and no physician would bo secured. Most of these caso would have gone without quarantine had not the absence of the children from the schools caused an investigation investiga-tion to be 'made and In this way a report re-port of the" d'sease was given to the health department. |
