Show YOUNG GARDENERS Young people around the country are jumping on the vegetable wagon and joining their parents in what is becoming be-coming a popular pastime, vegetable gardening. Why? It's certainly not hard to do. All you need are just about the same conditions condi-tions required for growing flowers six hours of sun a day and a fairly good soil with good drainage. Youngsters are learning the basics of vegetable garden care. For example, they're . discovering that it's usually best to place the vegetable ' garden behind a garage .or screen it off from the remainder re-mainder of the garden with a shrub border, a hedge or an attractive fence. This also keeps out children and animals. As their gardening experience experi-ence broadens, they're seeing see-ing the benefits of a broad-spectrum broad-spectrum insecticide like Spectracide with Diazinon. Applied to the soil both before be-fore the vegetables come up, and later on the leaves, it effectively controls insect pests on many of the vegetables vege-tables they might think of , growing, as well as on lawns and flowers. Why is vegetable gardening garden-ing blossoming among the younger generation? Because it combines work and fun in a pursuit that is both fulfill- ' ing and filling. |
