Show Roca Lowder Mitch el, active Church worker dies in Hospital; services held Roca Lowder Mitchell, 73, of Parowan, died at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City after a short illnessApril 15, 1976. Mrs. Mitchell was born January 30, 1903 in P4rowan to William J. and Minnie Whitney Lowder. On June 20, 1922 she married Ray Orton Mitchell in Parowan. Mrs. Mitchell was an active member of the LDS Church and was choir director of the Iron County Singing Mothers. She worked at several occupations including: assistant pharmacist, printing shop, owned and operated Ramona's Dress Shop, and helped her husband in the Buy-Rite Buy-Rite Grocery Store. She nursed and cared for the sick. Survivors include her husband, Ray of Parowan, one son, Boyd L. Mitchell and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Ramona) Subbs both of Parowan. Six grandchildren grand-children and three great grandchildren. grand-children. Two brothers and three sisters: Elmo W. Lowder, Fillmore, Art W. Lowder, San Jose, Calif., Lucille L. Bowler, Rock Springs, Wyo., and Maxine L. Robison, Tooele. The family prayer was offered by Roger Halterman; invocation by Kenneth Halterman; eulogy by Alice Mitchell; benediction by Cyril Pendleton; with Lynn Button giving the dedication of the grave; and the speaker was Zella Ingraham. Special Musical selections included the following: "Oh Divine Redeemer" and "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked", performed by the Third Ward Choir and accompanied ac-companied by Mary Lyman; "Gods Other Room" and "Abide With Me" was by the Ladies Quartet, which included Jackie Robinson, Katrine Johnson, Merna Mitchell, Janet Jones and accompanied by Itha Mortensen. Funeral services were held Monday April 19 in the Parowan LDS Third Ward Chapel with Counselor James Robinson conducting. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Southern Utah Mortuaries. |
