"Special Interest," according to Haws Marble, President of the Provo Region of Young Special Interest, "deals with filling the varied needs of these individual who are for one reason or another alone." "Friendship is one of the main purposes of the Special Interest Program," Marble says. "It is much more than just a meeting place for lonesome singles. It is a program designed by the IDS Church to involve people in activities that will bring growth and development in their lives. These programs are open to all single adults, not just LQS members." According to Marble, fhe program came forth under the direction of President Harold B. Lee. "It is as yet small and poorly understood but slowly increasing in stature and participation." par-ticipation." "We have dances Friday and Saturday nights, firesides, home evenings, service projects, evening classes, dinners, and many other activities both for single-parent families and the singles themselves.
