Show So. Elementary enjoys 'Week of Arts' The "Week Of The Arts For The Young" is being observed at South Elementary this week with an emphasis on the performing arts. Daily assemblies are being presented in modern dance, poetry, vocal music, drama, and orchestra. Monday, Marsha Harmon brought to the school an "Introduction "In-troduction To Modern Dance" assisted by the SUSC Dance Club. The Southern Utah Poetry Society presented the Tuesday program with poetry, dance and slides. President Jacki Griffin, Sidney Hahne, Fern Hunter and other society members participated. par-ticipated. Wednesday Mrs. Rowene DiFiore and the "Dixie Spirits" sang to and with the children in a Bicentennial Theme. Thursday is reserved for Drama withTerrill Lewis and his SUSC Drama Class explaining and portraying some basic fundamentals of Drama. The Student Orchestra will perform on Friday for the Studentbody under the direction of June Larson. Other activities include an all week exhibit of the students "Reflections" entries in Art, Music, Poetry and Essay. These are on display in the multipurpose multi-purpose room under the direction of Reflections Chairman Janet Nakken. Also, individual class tours of the Millford Zornes Watercolor Exhibit in the Braithwaite Braith-waite Art Gallery at SUSC are taking place daily. These tours are being conducted by Linda McConnell, Gallery director. The Week Of The Arts is a State sponsored event with support by the State and Local PTA's and other organizations |
