Show Dave Monson seeks Lt. Governor office , f 7' 1L Dave Monson has announced his candidacy for the office of Lt. Governor-Secretary of State of the State of Utah. "I feel there are still areas where I can make significant contributions in state government; govern-ment; however, the Constitution prohibit the State Auditor from succeeding himself in office. Therefor, I have chosen the office of-fice of Lt. Governor-Secretary of State as the position where I believe I can provide meaningful additional service to the people of Utah", stated Monson. "I believe the significant issues of the campaign for Lt. Governor are: 1. The need for a person qualified and experienced in state government to carry out the responsibilities of Governor in an acting capacity or permanently per-manently should that situation arise. 2. The courage to take a firm stand on issues over which the review the corporations in the state and certify as to their validity; thereby, improving the image of Utah. 4. The improvement of efficiency ef-ficiency and economy in the office itself." Monson has served as State Auditor since November 1972. He is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Ac-counting. His political affiliations include in-clude the following: Party Worker in Campaigns; Candidate Can-didate for the State office in 1972 ; . elected State Delegate in 1974; and Treasurer, of the Utah Republican Party 1975-76. Monson is married to the former Julianne Johnson, and they have three children. He is the first state auditor in the history of Utah to be a certified cer-tified public accountant; Monson became certified in February of 1974. He served on a mission in Central Britain during 1964-66 for the LDS Church. Monson concluded that "having served as State Auditor for the past four years I believe I have the insight into the overall operations of State government required to assume the duties of Governor, should the need arise."
