Show Nielson places first in High Jump at U of U Invitational Field Meet Brent Lewis in the high jump. He picked up fourth place with a jump of 6-4. Vance Matheson picked up a sixth in the Intermediate hurdles and the 440 yard relay team had a fourth place finish, but bested the Cedar High School record for the event with a time of 44:09. Members of the team are Bryan and Brad Jackson, Vance Matheson and Kendall Webster. This week Coach Jack Bishop and his thinclads will travel to Ephraim where they will participate par-ticipate in the Snow College Invitational Meet. They also met in a triangular meet hosted by SUSC Wednesday in Cedar City. Kim Neilson of the Cedar High School Redmen track and field team set the pace at the Deseret News, University of Utah Invitational In-vitational meet held Saturday in Salt Lake City. Neilson picked up first place honors in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet 8 inches to capture first place in the field of premier prep athletes . from all classifications in the state. "' "Only the top 16 performers in V each event from the prep ranky were invited to participate in the elite competition. Although Neilson was the only first place winner for the Red-men, Red-men, other members of the squad showed up strong fn the competition. Brad Jackson picked a third place in both the 100 anH 220 yard dashes with excellent times. He was clocked at 10 flat in the 100 yard dash, as was the second place finisher and he was also clocked at 22.3 in the 220 which eclipsed in old Cedar High School Redmen set by Gary Anderson in 1958 of 22.5. Jackson, only a sophomore seems destined to be a premier runner in the state before his , prep career is finished. Richard Adams in the two mile turned in a time of 10 minutes and six seconds to eclipse the 3A state record, however, he placed only fourth in the race.
