Show Sidney J. Atkins ! files for Senate Seat ' of Capitol Outlay Study for public schools. He has served the past four years as a member on the Executive Committee of the Western Conference of State Government and two years as member of the Governing Board of the Council of State Governments. Govern-ments. In making his bid to represent the five-county area in the Stae Senate, Representative Atkin said: VI li SIDNEY J. ATKINS "My experience in the legislature has been very interesting, in-teresting, challenging, and fulfilling. Much of my involvement in-volvement the past few years has been in joint appropriation committee and joint leadership meetings with both the Senate and the House. This legislative experience will be an asset as a member of the Seanate and beneficial to the people of District 29. I will continue to work for economic development; educational improvements; efficiency and economy in government; balanced budgets; and a government that is responsive to the people." Mr. Atkin is an active businessman in Southern Utah area. He is engaged in the motel-restaurant motel-restaurant business, and also has interests in the livestock industry, in-dustry, Sky West Airlines, and varied other enterprises. Also active in his church, Mr. Atkin has served as an LDS bishop and recently released as a member of a stake high council. Mr. Atkin is married to the former Mary Ann Hunt of Enterprise En-terprise and the father of eight children - three girls and five boys. Sidney J. Atkin, St. George businessman, has announced his candidacy for Utah State Senator from District 29 currently held by Senator Dixie Leavitt who has announced his candidacy for Governor on the Republican ticket. This district comprises Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Kane and Washinton counties. Mr. Atkin is now serving his fourth term in the Utah State Legislature, representing Washington County. During his tenure in the legislature, he has also represented Kane County as well as Washington. He has had an outstanding record in the Legislature, serving ser-ving as Republican Whip for the last four years. He is currently serving as a member of the following committees: Revenue j.& Taxation, Public Education ''Appropriations, Labor & Manpower Man-power Development.
