She has recently written a book entitled, "My Brother, Butch," which will form a basis for her talk. She will also answer questions from the audience. , Also participating on the program will be Mrs. Inez Cooper, SUSC assistant historian and director of special collections collec-tions at the college. Music will be furnished by SUSC faculty and staff members. The public is invited to attend the program free of charge. Two Cedar City educators have collaborated on an original work to be performed by the Manning-Halversen Manning-Halversen Oratorio Society on Saturday, April 24 at 8:15 p.m. in the Southern Utah State College Recital Hall. Dr. David Lee, chairman of the SUSC English Department, and James Dunaway, instructor in music at the Cedar City Junior High School have written the lyrics and musical score, respectively, for "Chimney Rock," a special Bicentennial work commissioned by the oratorio society. "The Song of Democracy" by Howard Hanson will also be performed as part of the program by the combined choruses from SUSC and Cedar City High School. This work depicts the role 6f the school in serving as a medium for the transition of democratic ideals from one generation to another. Other selections will include "America" by Billings; "America Anthem" by Ernest Bloch; "Notes from Tom Payne" by Dello Joio, and "Natchez on the Hill" by John Powell. Directors for the program are Dr. Blaine Johnson, chairman of the SUSC Music Department; ' Professor David Nyman, conductor con-ductor of orchestral music at SUSC; Shirley Roper, director of choral music at Cedar City High School, and Mr. Dunaway. Mrs. Carol Ann Nyman is president of the oratorio society, which is composed of SUSC students and Cedar City residents who have dedicated their time and energies for many years to the performance of quality music. Three years ago the campus-community group formally organized as the Manning-Halversen Oratorio Society in honor of William H. Manning and Roy L. Halversen, two outstanding music educators who pioneered and perpetuated great musical performance in the southern Utah area. Mrs. Lula Betenson, sister to the late Butch Cassidy, will be featured guest for the Wild West Week Assembly Thursday, April 22 at 11 a.m. in the Southern Utah State College Recital Hall.
