The annual state basketball tourney for 1918 came to a sensational finish here tills afternoon, aft-ernoon, with the Branch Agricultural Agricul-tural college capturing the title. Cedar City boys became the champions when they defeated the Boxelder hitrh team by the narrow margin of one point, the score being 19 to IS. This makes the second time in thc last three yearn that the Cedar City hoopers have won the state title in this: branch of athletics. They were winners in the pl6 tournament. tourna-ment. Their guarding during the half was excellent, and they themselves them-selves scored their points on some very difficult shots. B. A. C. jumped into the lead right off the reel in the second half when Jones and TJrie tossed in two field goals. Cornia for Boxelder tied the count with :i foul, and stiil another successful free try by TJrie put the Cedar City boys once more out in front. Leigh added two more points with a field basket, and gave the B. A. C. men a lead which their opponents were never able to overcome. The basket shooting of Leigh w-as one of the big reasons for the B. A. C. victory. He broke away frbm the opposing guard and scored five field goals. He was also high point maker with ten to his credit. G. Watkins held the other B. A C. forward, for-ward, Urie, to one goal from the field. Prior to 1900 basketdall was played, almost al-most exclusively at tbe Salt Lake Y. M. C. A., whose team was undoubtedly the champion until the famous L. D. S. TJ. came to .the front.
