Show BOYS AND GIRLS AT SALINA ARE ACTIVE Students of Grade School Contributing in Every Possible Way to Success of the War. Special to The Tribune. SALINA, March 9. Principal Ernest Frandseu of the graife school gives a glowing report of was assistance being rendered by the boys and gijls of Sa-liiia, Sa-liiia, under the personal direction of Miss Nellie Colvin. Some of the grammar gram-mar grade girls began junior Eed Cross work early last fall. They desired to become organized, and applied to the local chapter for membership. An auxiliary aux-iliary was formed just before Christinas. The juniors made a ruling that since they had expended so much of their own money and done so much work, new members would bo admitted only upon payment of the regular 25 cent fee. Since that time new members have been constantly enrolling. Material purchased for small hits, hospital hos-pital kits and bags, amounts to $118.50. This material was made by the girls into the articles mentioned and sent as Christinas presents to the soldiers. Membership Mem-bership fees paid in aggregate' $87.75; receipts from a stile of a junior Red Cross cake, $18; net receipts from a junior Kod Cross party and dance, $22; total, $22(1.25. Liberty bonds owned by the students total $700. . The thrift stamp drive is now on, and to date stamps have been purchased to tlie amount of $710. This makes a grand total of $l(i;ifj.25 in cash contributed con-tributed or invested by the boys and girls towards the winning of the. war. They are determined to bend, every effort in that direction, and will continue con-tinue to aid with money as well as industrially in-dustrially by taking up home gardenin.g, poultry raising and various other projects proj-ects outlined by the government and the school district. |
