Show DWELLINGS SCARCE, DEALER ASSERTS Residence Rental Rates Advancing j and Waiting Lists in Order, Gleed Miller Says. There is an unusual scarcity of homes in Salt Lake at present, according to Gleecl Miller of the Home Investment & Savings company. "Of the forty to fifty rental houses which we take care of regularly,'' Mr. Miller said, "only one has been vacated 'so far this spring. This was rerented the day after we knew of its vacancy and on terms much more desirable than those given the former tenants. We have felt out all of our tenants and there is only one who is thinking of moving he is going on a farm. Already we have a long waiting list of people to rent houses. "Conditions are becoming so acute that many have been forced to buy. Some ot our best listings have ben taken and many others have been withdrawn from the market. The market price of houses is slowly rising. One large contractor who sold his bungalows for $2500 and upward up-ward a year ago demanded $27o0 for them last fall, and now he is obtaining $3000. Not only are homeseekers buying property, prop-erty, but some real estate speculators are beginning to invest. Several large lots and some smaller ones have changed hands recently. There is no idea of a big boom immediately. It may be one, two ; or three years off just as soon as the wa r ends it will come, for everyone is planning on buying then; but the wise ' nnoR arfl nnt ect n r tn bp Ip.f t . " |
