Show RAILROADS LOYAL, SPROULE DECLARES Charge That Officials Arc Not Trying to Make U. S. Control a Success Branded as False. ;i n si mint ions t hat railroad officials of tiio country are not loyally responding respond-ing to overnnieut ponlrol, to the end that it may bo a success, are branded as absolutely falso by William Sproule, president of the Southern Pacific. In an address recently before the Transportation club of San Francisco, Mr. Sproule had this ' to say on the subject: ''The charge, is a gross calumny upon, the railroad men of this great country. 1 adjure you, even as I lay the duty upon myself, to stand firm against t ouch sor taint of disloyalty. In this time of the nation's trial, let us staud firm against even carping criticism of the government; iu which it is so easy to indulge without thinking of its evil effect. Any country that is not loyal to its government iu times of stress is not a nation. 4 'Let us help iu every way we can. The war must be won. it is the privilege priv-ilege of each one ofus to do his share to achieve that great and imperative result. ' ' |
