Show LAWSON IS HEAD OF NEW MINERS' UNION DENVER, March 9. The executive council of the newly organized Independent Indepen-dent Union of Mine Workers of America closed its first meeting here late today after John R. Lawson had been chosen president and E. L. Doyle, secretary and treasurer, until a regular election can be held. The new union was formed by former members of District No. 15, United Mine Workers of America, at a convention held last week at Pueblo, Colo., because of dissatisfaction with the method of conducting- elections held by the United Mine Workers, in which Law-son Law-son failed to be elected district president. presi-dent.
