A.; religlun class and the primary organizations tendered a farewell party to Mr. and Mrs. A. Keeler, who are leaving Mammoth to make their home in Salt Lake City. The M. E. Red Cross auxiliary met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. T. R. Trogonlng, ten ladles being present. Refreshments were served. The next rr eeting of the auxiliary will he held at the home of Mrs. A. YYetterstrom. Mrs. Tom Diekerson of Silver City and Mrs. At. Haskelt of Mammoth entertained Monday evening at the hitter's home, in honor of Mr. Haskett and Mr. Dickerson. The features of the evening included 1 music, dancing and luncheon. Mrs. C. C. The younger set does just what their mothers did. and many of the mothers now follow along in groups, recalling memories. The ever- resourceful country lad makes his willow whistle chime in with the song of the I meadow lark, which this year is calling "We'll-Whip-Kaiser-Bill." . Especially on Sundays numerous groups, carrying lunch baskets, walk to the fields and gather the watercress which grows in the clear spring water. This year something different dif-ferent is being done. Many carry along a few slips and gather the dry cattails cat-tails with which to make comfort pillows for the soldiers. Mrs. J. R. Robinson, Mrs. O. E. Mc Shane, Mrs. Ernest God-dard, God-dard, Miss Margaret Hurst and Mrs. W. F. Knox went on a . "hike" Tuesday, stopping at the Shepherd farm and having hav-ing luncheon as the guests of. Miss Ceressa Shepherd. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Goddard left Thursday afternoon for Salt Lake City, where they wdll spend a couple of weeks. Mrs. Fred Shot of Salt Lake City is the guest of her sister, Mrs. O. F. McShane. The Mansfield was the scene of a prettily pret-tily appointed dancing party Thursday evening, given by Miss Ann Gillis and Miss Golda Baldwin. Following the dancing, danc-ing, supper was served in the dining room, which was attractively decorated with potted plants. The guests were seated at one long table, the centerpiece of which was scarlet geraniums in a basket, with a tulle bow on the handle. Twelve couples were included. Miss Delphia Stewart of Salt Lake City was the honored guest at a number of pleasant affairs during the week. Monday Mon-day evening Mrs. J. F. Tolton gave a dinner party at her home for her, and Tuesday evening Mrs. Frank Low entertained enter-tained at a card party in her honor. Mrs. James Barrett and little son, who have been visiting Mrs. Ambrose Good in Salt Lake City, have returned to their home here. Miss Olivia Grimshaw and Miss Eva Grimshaw were the recipients of a surprise sur-prise party given at their home Monday evening by a number of their young friends. A programme of games and music mu-sic was carried out, and refreshments served. Twenty guests were present. |
