Show COUNTY COUNCILS OF DEFENSE TO MEET Members of county councils of defense de-fense have been called to meet with the state council at the Hotel Utah, Monday afternoon, April 8. Closer cooperation co-operation among the organizations is desired. Many counties have asked the council to furnish speakers for patriotic pa-triotic meetings to be held April S, "Win the War Day," and .1. S. Critch-low, Critch-low, chairman of tho speakers' committee, com-mittee, has been asked to delegate men for these appointments. Food Administrator W. W. Armstrong Arm-strong reports that 120,000 pounds of seed wheat were being delivered and that extensive war gardens would be planted. Prizes will bo offered for the best j-ields. i An appropriation of $2500 has been made toward the expenses of the third j Liberty loan campaign. The advisability of establishing a war chest fund in Utah, to which contributions con-tributions in 'large nmount will be made, in order to provide for welfare work, emergency items, etc., was referred re-ferred to a special committee, with William R. Wallace as chairman, to formulate a definite plan. This would do away with the necessity for a number num-ber of "drives" for special funds. |
