Show CHiLDRLFi DISCOVER IMilTE Thirty Sticks of Explosive Found in Taylorsville Waiting Room. Thirty sticks of dynamite were found yesterday under a bench in the waiting room of the Taylorsville station of the i Salt Lake & Utah railroad. Two small children playing in the waiting room discovered the explosive cache. Deputy Sheriff K. H. McDonald McDon-ald was called to the station by the station agent and brought the dynamite dyna-mite io Salt Lake and turned it in at the sheriff's office. How the dynamite got under, the bench or what was the design of the persou who put it there is a baffling question as yet to the sheriff's force. That it might have some relation to the I recent blowing of the safe at the West ; Jordan station of the electric railway I is thought possible. I The sticks were each stamped "Hercules "Her-cules Powder company, Hercules, Cal., April 27, 1917." The thirty sticks j were in a small box presenting no sin- ister appearance. The two urchins hauled the box from under the bench and were delightedly handling the deadly sticks before the adults in the room were aware of the nearness of potential annihilation for everyone in the building. Carl C. Carstensen, chief criminal deputy of the sheriff's office, said last night that he has no definite tho-I tho-I ory as to how the dynamite came to i be where found nor, of the motive of , the person who put' it there. |
