Show STUDEBAKER REPORTS RUSHING BUSINESS Unusual Demand for Trucks and Autos Develops Throughout Intermoun'-tain Intermoun'-tain Section. The past two weeks have been the liveliest in the sales history of the local Studebaker company's automobile business. busi-ness. The wholesale business throughout through-out the territory has been exceptionally good, according to Joseph Swanson, who is connected with the wholesale department and travels continuously through the intermountain territory. Many carload shipments have been dispatched through the various dealers for delivery to a large waiting list ot buyers. Yesterday John Statliek, Studebaker Stu-debaker dealer at Bock Springs, Wyo., placed an order for immediate delivery of two carloads of five and seven-passenger cars. C. II. Banks of the Banks Undertaking Undertak-ing company, Murray, Utah, purchased his fourth Studebaker car, a half-ton commercial vehicle, upon the chassis of which he is going to build an attractive attrac-tive hearse body. Mr. Banks is a strong Studebaker booster. One little incident that he relates which shows to good advantage the real stamina of the Studebaker car, occurred' last spring in Provo canyon while Mr. Banks and a party of friends were on a fishing fish-ing trip in Provo canyon. A severe ram coming up suddenly flooded all of the low places in the roads, caused by the Provo river overflowing its banks. Many seemingly impassable' bad spots were encountered on the return home. At one place in particular Mr. Banks's ingenuity as a driver and the power of the Studebaker car were taxed to their capacity. The crossing negotiated, flooded with water at the approach of a bridge where a washout had occurred, made it necessary to drive through the stream with the torrent raging over the running, board. There were five passengers pas-sengers in the car besides Mr. Banks, who was at the wheel of the Studebaker Studeba-ker four-cylinder, 1917 model, negoti ated this bad spot in the road, and when the grade was. encountered the car had to climb out of a hole on an angle of 45 degrees. Mr. Banks has every confidence in the world in the Studebaker car. |
