Show ST. JOSEPH CLUB IS SOLD TO HUTCHINSON KANSAS CITY, July 11. "The St. Joseph club of the Western league will be moved to Hutchinson, Hutchin-son, Kan., and the first game will be played there wnen tho second half of the league season ?taru on July 24." E. W. Dickerson, president of the league, announced tonight. Mr. Dickerson said no definite plans had been made regarding keeping St. Joseph in the Western West-ern league, but declared It highly probable that some arrangement might be effected whereby that city would have a representation in the circuit. "St. Joseph, In my opinion, is one of the best baseball . towns In the country," he asserted, "and It should have a team in organized ball." Rumors of the removal dt some other western league h-am to St. Joseph were characterized by the league president as premature. The Hutchinson baseball plant will be located on the site of the former Western association grounds and Mr. Dickerson said work on the grand stand would be begun immediately. The signing of two umpires. Leo Brown of St. Louis, formerly of the New York State league, and Jack Dalley of Chfcago. recently of the Three-I league, was announced by President Dickerson, as well ae the release of Garland Bush of St. Louis from tho staff of arbiters. |
