Ryan, president of the Anaconda Copper company, has Joined the group of prominent promi-nent industrial executives volunteering to service in the Red Cross during the war without compensation and has been assigned as-signed as director general of military relief. re-lief. He will be in charge of all relief work for the fighting fortes. Mr. Ryan succeeds Colonel Jefferson R. Kean, who lias been recalled from his assignment as-signment to assist the Red Cross and ordered to take command of the One Hundred and Sixtieth United States army ambulance sections In the war theater. , The military relief department was or- i ganized by Colonel Kean in 1916, and ; during the past few months he has built ! up through it a great machinery for re- I lief work at the front.
