Show UTAH MIDSHIPMAN COMPLETES STUDIES Evan Greenwood Hanson Graduates With Class at Annapolis Navy Academy. Utah was represented in the class which was graduated from the naval academv at Annapolis on March 29 by Evan Greenwood Hanson, son of Mr.' and Mrs. George M. Hanson of Ogden. This class was graduated two months ahead of time and has the distinction of being the third class in the history of the naval academy that has been graduated grad-uated ahead of the usual time for graduation, grad-uation, in order to go into active service in the United States navy. Mr. Hanson Han-son made a record in the academy that did honor to himself and to his state, and he enters into active service in'the Davy with every assurance of continuing such a record. George M. Hanson is United States consul in British Columbia, Canada. Mrs. Hanson went to Annapolis from British Columbia to witness the gradua tion ceremonies and remain with Midshipman Mid-shipman Hanson until he enters upon his duties in the navy. Midshipman Hanson was born at Fillmore, Fill-more, Utah, in 1894 and moved with his parents to Ogden, where he lived until be went with them to Washington in 1905. He attended the district schools at Ogden and completed high school training at Washington. He was appointed ap-pointed . to the United States naval academv bv Senator George Sutherland. He passed both the mental and physical entrance examinations without difficulty difficul-ty and entered the academy in June, 1913. He is the adopted son of Mr., and Mrs. George M. Hanson, having been adopted br them on the death of his mother, Eva Olson Greenwood, sister of Mrs. Hanson, who died at the time of his birth. |
