Show LOG! SCHOOLS WILL BEGIN OUTDOOR IRK Present Week Will Mark First of Real Practice; Prospects Bright. Special to The Tribune. LOGAN, March 31. The early training season marred by bad weather and only fair prospects of making a respectable showing in track work this spring, the Utah Aggies will begin work in earnest this week outdoors regardless of what the weather man sends. So far about twenty-five men have signed up for the track squad. Tho Farmers will be strong for baseball base-ball this spring and will form a team regardless of the fate of the proposed college league. Baseball prospects are much more encouragiug than track, and those who are not taking part in spring football practice or track will bein-vited bein-vited to help out the baseball cause. v? last year's team the following will ro-port: ro-port: lvins, catcher; Holnistead, first base; Ward and McBride, second base; Johnson, third base; Bowen, McMullin 1 and Smith, outfielders. Fritz Skanchy f of the B. Y. C, who is now an Aggie-' will be mustered into service as pitcbjjF Skanchy is being claimed by the B. v., where the church school people propose to make a baseball coach of him, as Coach Kuapp has not taken part in baseball base-ball to a very great extent. It is expected ex-pected he will sign up with the Aggies, as the berth on an intercollegiate team would be a greater inducement than a position as mentor. Others who will report re-port for a position at the A. C. are Van Orden, catcher; Smith, pitcher; Ballif and Neely, infielders, and a list of other recruits. The "T" baseball outlook is also very bright, as Coach Knapp has mo6t of last year's team to use. Among them will be found tho following in running run-ning for the team: Nelson, Woodward, Haws, Cooper, Tidwell, Bitters, Shaw and Hyer. New men in line for the team are McBride, Maughan, Jeppson, Cox, Home, Thorpe, Fuhriman, Berge-son, Berge-son, Howells. Geddes and Squires of last year's nine are at the A. C. this year. Coach Knapp is busy lining up track men for real service when spring comes. Of the former team men the following have reported: Edwards, Nelson Nel-son and Knowles. sprints; Allen, hurdles and high jump; Dunn, weights; Jacques and Horne, distance runs; Berntson and Haws, pole vault; Hughes, sprints. The coach thinks he has some comers in the following list: Adams, Cox, Barlow. Bar-low. McBride, Jeppson. Bullen, Smith, Merkcley, Warner and Hensen. Besides the meets with Utah schools the B. Y. C. will meet the Idaho Technical Tech-nical Institute of Pocatello in a dual meet in Logan. The annual interclass track meet will be held the middle of April. |
