Show Alexander Sends . 'Aiilopsd' Movement Off Willi a Rush Miniature Machines Cause Whirlwind of Excitement . in City. PROBABLY the busiest man outside of the European war trenches during the past week was John B. Alexander, manager of the automobile department depart-ment of the Inter-Mountain Electric company and father of the "au-toped" "au-toped" activities in Salt Lake. The little machine with the miniature motor that carries one so swiftly and silently to any destination has caused a whirlwind of interest among Salt Lakers, and every moment mo-ment since the "peds" arrived for demonstration telephone wires have been kept hot and hundreds of persons per-sons have visited the Inter-Mountain display rooms to see "Alexander "Alexan-der and his autopods. " The Fourth South street district has taken on unusual activities since the arrival of the machines. During the noon hours crowds of workers looking for amusement have lined the street near the In-ter-Mountaiu store to see the "peds" whisk around, dodge, make 'hairpin turns and create excitement in general. This territory is also used for the demonstrating of the models, and if a passerby cannot get more thrills in a few seconds than the average circus can give during its entire performance he is indeed blind. While Alexander is not busy answering an-swering phone calls or letters about the "peds" he can be found outside out-side the store, where he explains the working of the models to the prospective buyer in about five words, give them a push, and knows when they return that they will be friends of the "peds" for life. |
