Show NljJ LIKE YOUTH JOhe Mm RESERVE City Treasurer Godbe Wires Consent to Son to Enlist. City Treasurer Frank Godbe telegraphed tele-graphed yesterday to his son, Norman F. Gddbe. at present a sophomore in i Dartmouth college, consent that tbe young man should join the naval coast defense reserve at Boston. Mr. Godbe received a telegraphic request re-quest from his son Friday for his approval ap-proval of his intention to join the reserve, re-serve, along with twelve other college boys of I'jartmouth, ten of whom are his fraternity brothers. The twelve young men will go to Boston Bos-ton Tuesday and go into training. They get their patrol boat, a sixty-foot power vessel, in six weeks and will then put in three) months in active service. During Dur-ing the 'time they will be accorded full eredjiirat the college the same as if had been in attendance and passed all examinations. Norman F. Godbe is a native of Salt Lake, a graduate of the city high school and attended the University of Utah one year, this being his first year at Dartmouth. At the time of sending the telegram he was in New York visiting is sister, . rJdith uoODe, wno is mere studying vocal music. Mr. Godbe said last night that the tenor of the telegram received from his son indicated his determination to join the reserve and that the request for permission was really a deference to his father. He said that he was glad to send a night letter of approval of his son's decision and to encourage him in his patriotic stand. The young man is 20 years of age. NORMAN F.
