The cause of the drop In retail re-tail price was a reduction In tho whole-.-alo price. The wholesalers now ask from $6 50 to ?7 a case, as compared with $S a case last week. Dealers sa there Is a good profit at 25 cents a dozen and that before the end or tho week eggs may be Totalling at two dozen for 45 cents or less. , Although there havo been no material changes In the best meat prices, owing to the usual meat scarcity at this season, there were ncvoral minor changes, all upward, up-ward, during the week. Hamburger, chuck steak and rump roast beef aro now selling at 21 cents more per pound and French lamb chops at 5 cents more than last quoted. Celery advanced from 7 cents to 10 cents a head, owing to Its scarcity on tho market. Dealers say that celery Is almost gone. Some of tho stores received spinach during tho week.
