Show THOMPSON IS TAKEN BACK TO THE PRISON Convict Who Escaped and Was Recaptured Recap-tured Is Again Behind the Bars. Willard Thompson, ,1110 long-term1 prisoner who made his escape from the convict road camp near St. George a week ago aud was recaptured within three days by the guards of the camp, was brought back to tho stato prison yesterday by Guard W. D. Davis. Thompson expressed repentance- to Warden Arthur Pratt for his act in breaking his pledged word not to attempt at-tempt an escape ironi the camp. Deputy Warden A. C. Urc went to Washington county Wednesday night with six additional prisoners for the road camp. Six more will be sent down Sunday. Tne road work on whjch the mon have been engaged near St. Georgo lias been completed and the camp has been moved about nine miles this way. Tho country over which the gang has been working is mostly a lava rock formation and has been very difficult to dual with. Except for a fow days' occasional storm, tho weather conditions have been ideal, according to tho reports received from the camp by Warden Pratt, and the men have on joyed the outdoor life. With the addition of the six men sent down W'odnesdav night and the six moro to go, the camp will include lifty-fivo men. The inspection in-spection trip being made by Deputv Warden A. C. Urc was made possible by the return from California of War-don War-don Pratt. Mr. Pratt said last night that he had enjoyed his stay in California Cali-fornia immensely, in spite of tho excessive ex-cessive storms, most of the inconvenience inconven-ience of which ho failed to encounter. Mrs. Pratt is still in Los Angeles. |
