MAY IS CANDIDATE FOR RECORDERSHIP Senator George Sutherland Telegraphs Indorsement -to Mayor Samuel d. Park. John L. May, chief clerk in tho office of-fice of the Uaitcd States assayer. was announced yesterday as a candidate for city recorder in the event of the appointment of Jtfoble Warrum for postmaster -of Salt Lake. Tho announcement an-nouncement came through a telegram from Unitad States Senator George Sutherland to Mayor S. C. Park, indorsing in-dorsing Miiy's candidacy. Tho telegram from Senator Sutherland Suther-land was regarded as significant inasmuch in-asmuch ns it indicated that thero was a fooling in Washington that City Recorder Re-corder Noble Warrum would bo named soon for postmaster of Salt Lake. Tho senator evidently had boon convinced that Mr. Warrum 's appointment was certain and thoroforo entered an early request for the appointment of his candidate for recorder.
