This spray should be lime sulphur and should bo applied before leaves are developed. This Is the best month for tree planting. The planting of trees, shrubs, roso bushes, etc., should be done systematically, syste-matically, observing tho following points: Trim smooth tho bruised ends of tho roots. Dig holes largo enough to allow plenty of root apnee. Place good soli, pulverized, among the roots. After planting, tamp down the soil moderately. Cut back about two-thirds of the ' length of the branches, adhering to tho shape desired. Newly planted trees should be onlv sparingly watered, with perhaps a good soaking onco a week until well started to grow. Mulching and cultivating culti-vating the soil around such trees are as important as the watering. Several varieties of flower seeds may now bo safely planted, as sweet peas, nasturtiums, portulaca, asters, cosmos, allysum, etc. Gladlola bulbs may be planted now, and to provide a succession of cut llowers a few bulbs should be planted overy two weeks until Juno. About 50 per cent of our lawns are ruined yearly by ovcrwaterlng, thereby souring tho soil and washing out the soil from tho roots. Rules for a pleasing arrangement in planting homo grounds arc as follows: fol-lows: Plant flowers and shrubbery at the boundaries of the lot, leaving the lawns unbroken.
