Show Heidi: Xmas Design Heidi Van Ert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Van Ert, has received word that he design she and a friend sntered in the A.F.S. American Field Service) Christmas card contest has won. AMERICAN Field Service is an International organization organiza-tion which has brought many foreign students to study in Bountiful, as well as sending young people from our town to study in other countries around the world. Last year Gill Gyle was herefrom Scotland; Bountiful High graduate Lori Bates just returned from a summer in Denmark; and currently the Bob Barlow family is hosting Siv Odegard from Norway. DURING THE summer of 1972 Heidi Van Ert participated par-ticipated in this program as an exchange student to Al-soker, Al-soker, Norway. The three months were filled with meeting new people, speaking a different language and learning a great deal. Like all AFS'ers who have shared in a similar experience, Heidi came back to the U.S. with the desire to do something for the program which had meant so much in her life. The opportunity came last spring at Colorado College when Gene Tresen-feld, Tresen-feld, a former exchange student, suggested that they enter the A.F.S Christmas card contest. CONVINCED THAT he had a winning design in mind, he needed Heidi's artistic capabilities to execute the idea. Recently they were informed in-formed that their card had indeed won the contest. In addition to receiving a cash award for both Gene and .Heidi, their design will be printed as one of the Season's A.F.S. collection. Profits earned from selling these cards will be used to bring another foreign student to study at Bountiful High next year.
