Mr. Sharp told commissioners commis-sioners that an early cost estimate es-timate of $140,000 for the building did not take into consideration the utility hookups which will service two other buildings to be constructed con-structed in the complex. He said a fire sprinkling system, required in the building code, had also raised the cost above the originally estimate. THE ALCOHOL Rehabilitation Rehabilita-tion Center is the first building build-ing in a three-building complex which is being planned to house services provided by the Davis Mental Health Association. Mr. Sharp sail preliminary plans have been approved for the Mental Health Center, which is the second building planned for the complex. The third building, still in the planning stages, is a recreation recrea-tion center. THE CENTER plans call for a one story, 16-bed building build-ing with a brick exterior. An asphalt parking lot is included includ-ed in the bid. The federal government will supply 55 percent of the funding for the building, with the county picking up the tab for 45 percent. per-cent. Dr. Russell Williams, administrator ad-ministrator for Davis Mental Health, said the county has received $211,000 in money from a federal grant. A portion por-tion of this money will be used to begin construction. A ground breaking for the center is tentatively set for Wednesday, Oct. 20 in Layton. IN OTHER business the commission accepted a petition peti-tion from Dr. Robert Runnells asking that a portion of the Davis County Memorial Park be named in memory of Vernon Ver-non S. Nicholls. Dr. Runnells said Mr. Nicholls was a "unique individual who had spent many years in community com-munity service in the area." The petition was signed by 93 citizens. . Commissioner C.E. Moss said he wouldn't be in favor of changing the name of the whole park complex, which includes the golf course. The commissioners are considering consider-ing whether a portion of the park should be named after Mr. Nicholls. The upper part of the park is scheduled for dedication on Thursday at 5 p.m. RODNEY Walker, Davis County Clerk asked the commission com-mission for clarification on one phase of the proposed merit pay plan for county employees. Mr. Walker said that Mrs. Alice Johnson, administrator ad-ministrator of the council for the aging, is concerned that part-time employees-qualify for sick leave and vacation time under the current merit pay proposal. Mr. Walker said the council on aging employes several people who only work 25 hours a week in the nutrition program. Mrs. Johnson says she can't meet her budget if part-time employes receive these benefits. Commissioners Commis-sioners said they would discuss dis-cuss this objection with Horace Rose, county personnel person-nel director. IN OTHER action, commissioners commis-sioners refused to pay any part of a $7428 hospital bill submitted to the commission by the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden for medical care for Billy Florez. Florez shot himself in the stomach and was transported to the hospital by a county ambulance after a confrontation confronta-tion with law enforcement officers of-ficers at his home in Sunset. |
