Show if a . v - ? , VACCINATION BEGINS Davis County residents were the first Utahns to be innoculated for swine flu. According Ac-cording to Dr. Richard Johns, medical director for the Davis Health Department, 5,300 persons were immunized at the Valley Music Hall and Centerville Junior High School between the hours of 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday. CLINICS ARE scheduled for today at Kaysville Junior High and Clearfield High School from 4 to 8 p.m. Another series of free in-noculation in-noculation clinics is set for the week of Nov. 15 - 19, Dr. Johns said. j Dr. Johns called the clinics "successful" and said having physicians talk to swine flu vaccine recipients was a "great public relations move. We have had no complaints," he said. DR. JOHNS and three other volunteer physicians explained any special precautions precau-tions necessary to groups of 45 potential recipients prior to the innoculation. Those with an allergy to eggs, with a fever, or who had received another type of vaccine vac-cine in the past 14 days were advised to wait or to seek special medical supervision. DR. JOHNS said there has been no documentation to show an association between the swine flu immunization and the three people who died in Pittsburg, Pa. He said the deaths were "not relative to the vaccination." Martha Wallace of Bountiful was the first person to receive the swine flu vaccine when the mass innoculation began at Centerville, Junior High last Monday. |
