OCTOBER 18, Monday, 1 p.m. at the Golden Years Helping with plans for candidate meetings with senior citizens planned for next week in Davis County are 1 to r, Alice Griffith, Ray Dahl and "Hap" Robinson. Members of the Bountiful League of Women Voters will serve as moderators. Center, Bountiful candidates for Davis County Commission, Commis-sion, Utah Senate District No. 23, and Utah Representative Districts No. 55, 56, and 57 have been invited. October 20, Wednesday, 1 p.m., Heritage Center, Clearfield Clear-field candidates for Davis County Commission, Utah Representative Districts No. 51, 52, 53, 54, and 66 and School District Precinct No. 3 have been invited. OCTOBER 21, Thursday, 1:30 p.m., Viewmont High School Cafeteria , candidates for Davis School Board in Precincts No. 1, 2, and 3 have been invited. All of the candidates have been asked to respond to the following questions: 1. DO YOU favor the continued con-tinued use of Federal funds for various services in Utah (Davis County)? Why or why not? 2. If elected, will you support sup-port the continued use of state (or local) funds for senior citizen ci-tizen programs in local communities? com-munities? Why or why not? CANDIDATES have also been asked to respond to questions from the audience. The meeting at the senior citizen centers will be moderated bv members of the League of Women Voters of Bountiful. The League will also explain the three initiative initia-tive proposals and the constitutional consti-tutional amendment which will be on the ballot in Novem)er. VOTING MACHINES are located in each Senior Center until Oct. 31 for demonstration demonstra-tion purposes. Any seniors not registered were asked to come to the Centers from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12 when a representative from the League of Women Voters was present to register them. The Council on Aging desires that all older citizens remain in the mainstream of life as long as possible. The political process enables ci tizens to be among the "decision makers". TO ENABLE older people to exercise that right, transportation trans-portation to register, vote and attend candidate's meetings will be provided. Anyone needing transportation transporta-tion should contact the Golden Years Center in Bountiful, 295-3479 or the Heritage Center in Clearfield, 773-7065. Homebound seniors are asked to call either Center for assistance as-sistance in registering to vote. OTHER MEMBERS of the Council on Aging Voters Service Ser-vice Committee are Ray Dahl from West Point and Joel Wilson from Bountiful. |
